UWMC has an outstanding opportunity for a FULL-TIME (100%) CARDIAC SONOGRAPHER 2. This individual performs and analyzes comprehensive complex diagnostic cardiac ultrasound procedures such as Transthoracic Echo (TTE), Dobutamine Stress Echo (DSE), Treadmill Echo (TME), and assists physicians with Transesophageal Echo (TEE) procedures on patients referred for evaluation of suspected or known heart disease, post-operative evaluation of surgical therapy, or placement of cardiac prosthetic devices. Performs and analyzes diagnostic cardiac ultrasound examinations on adults, adolescents, children, and infants, referred for evaluation of heart disorders who are undergoing invasive/surgical diagnostic or therapeutic cardiac proce! dures or cardiac surgery procedures in hospital urgent care areas. This individual will also participate as primary Echocardiography Training Liaison with the School of Medicine Division of Cardiology Fellowship Training Program, providing in-depth clinical training and instruction in the techniques, theories, and methods analysis of Echocardiography and Cardiac Doppler examinations to all UW Cardiology Fellows and Anesthesiology Fellows, Anesthesiologists and other attending physicians as arranged.
Performs and analyzes comprehensive complex diagnostic cardiac ultra sound procedures such as Transthoracic echo (TTE), Dobutamine stress echo (DSE), treadmill echo (TME), and assists physicians with transesophageal echo (TEE) procedures on patients referred for evaluation of suspected or known heart disease, post-operative evaluation of surgical therapy, or placement of cardiac prosthetic devices.
In addition, the person in this role performs clinical and appr! oved research Transthoracic Echocardiography examinations on adult, ado! lescent, and critically ill patients either at the bedside or within the department. Reviews patient medical records, physician referral diagnosis and patients previous exam data including final reports and images prior to beginning procedure. Prepares patient for examination by explaining entire procedure and performing a limited physical assessment of blood pressure and auscultation. Acquires any additional pertinent patient history. Optimizes and alters Echo and Doppler examinations by using appropriate procedure and technique. to obtain anatomy and pathophysiology data relative to patientsâ cardiac disorder(s). Performs quality dependant and independent imaging before, during, and after Dobutamine Stress Echo procedures. Performs quality dependant and independent imaging before, during, and after Treadmill Stress Echo procedures. Assists the attending physician with transesophageal echocardiography and Intracardiac Ultrasound. Determines initial working diagnosis by a! nalyzing data using appropriate mathematical formulas and offline computer analysis to define accurate cardiac anatomy, physiology, pathology and hemodynamics. Prepares the patientâs initial diagnostic report: enters analyzed exam data and findings into the KinetDx program, prepares documentation for Echo attending review. Cleans exam room, disinfects ultrasound equipment, prepares room and equipment for next patient or procedure. Provides âhands onâ training of echo procedures to attending physicians, cardiology fellows, cardiac anesthesiology and surgery fellows, and cardiac ultrasound interns. Attends at least 75% of required staff meetings annually and/or reads and verifies all staff meeting minutes. Contributes to and assists with documentation of information to support Echo Lab and UW Hospitals CQI processes. Position requires stand-by or on-call, Weekends, holidays, evening and night time hours. Rotation to satellite clinics. Performs other related duties as as! signed.
REQUIREMENTS:
Completion of a training prog! ram accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), and certified as Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) in Adult Echocardiography, OR, with experience equivalent to criteria for eligibility for taking Board Examination in Adult Echocardiography by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS).
