Detailed specification about this job opportunity please read the description below. Function: Provides professional and specialized nursing service in administering anesthesia to surgical patients.
Scope: Impacts direct patient care for surgical patients.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Determines an appropriate pre-anesthesia examination has been made by a physician, relevant tests have been completed and a thorough assessment of the patient has been performed. Develops a plan of care based on assessment, interpretation, anticipated procedure and essential equipment, and coordinates with appropriate health care providers. Admi! nisters anesthetic agents and adjunctive therapeutics. Monitor! s physiological responses and takes corrective action to maintain or stabilize the patient's condition. Provides resuscitative care. Records pertinent information on the patient's records. Terminates anesthesia. Provides patients with post-anesthesia care. Adheres to safety precautions and inspects and tests all anesthetic apparatus before use. Participates in the review and evaluation of the quality and appropriateness of anesthesia care. Maintains optimal anesthesia practice. Supports and preserves the basic rights of the patients.
MARGINAL OR PERIODIC FUNCTIONS:
Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISION:
Received: Anesthesiologist and general supervision by the Director and Associate Director of Anesthesiology Services. Given: Supervise Nurse Anesthetist students as assigned.
Job Description - Requirements
EDUCATION:
Required: Graduate from an approved program of nurse anesthesia education.
EXPERIENCE: Required: None.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: Required: All of the following current licenses/certifications:
Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN).
Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist by the Council on Certification (or Recertification) of Nurse Anesthetist Programs. Eligible for recognition from the Texas Board of Nursing as an Advanced Practice Nurse.
MAY BE REQUIRED: Eligible to be granted limited prescriptive authority by the State of Texas.
