Reporting to the Vice President and Head of US Medical Affairs, Medical Directors group, the Medical Director/Sr. Director Pain will be responsible for development of the medical strategy for all Pain productsâ design and execution of supporting initiatives in the United States.
The incumbent will be charged with developing and providing a rigorous scientific and medical foundation for acceptance and usage of Teva Pain products. This will be achieved by the design and imple! mentation of appropriate Phase IV studies and post-marketing t! herapeutic projects and trials. He/She will also drive the review, decision process and support of investigator initiated trials. Critical to the success of this organization, the incumbent will need to create positive advocate relationships and partnerships with centers of academic and clinical excellence, national thought leaders, scientific experts and professional organizations in the respiratory community. He/She will also serve as an internal medical/scientific resource to the professional education, regulatory, training, and commercial functions within Teva Pain.
Responsibilities
Develops medical strategy; designs and implements key initiatives which would align with the objectives of the Pain business unit, and leads MA sub-functional therapeutic leaders during planning process to design respective plans in alignment with the medical strategy.
Develops Medical Operating Plan, designs Phase IV clinical studies and serves as their Clinical L! ead during the implementation, in cooperation with IR&D, Operational teams, and HEOR personnel at Teva; including interface with clinical investigators and vendors as appropriate.
Participates in clinical proposal decision processes, including review of proposals and protocols of studies, supporting R&D, operational and health economics/outcomes teams.
Leads scientific and medical reviews and go â" no go decisions for Pain products within Investigator Sponsored Studies program.
Serve as âgo toâ functional liaison within cross-functional business teams developing work plans and overall business strategy for Pain brands.
Serves as an internal medical/scientific resource to Professional Affairs, Scientific Communications and Publication teams, HEOR, Regulatory Affairs, Business Development, Training, Copy Approval, Project Teams, IR&D and Commercial functions within Teva Pain.
Oversees and manages projects with medical and scie! ntific personnel and systems, provides organizationally aligned medical! and scientific services, serves as the medical and scientific resource for all inquiries requesting Medical Director expertise;
Drives strategically aligned agenda and content development and leads Medical Advisory boards for Pain products.
Ensures medical and scientific accuracy in publication planning process, including review of abstracts, posters, manuscripts for publication and scientific symposia presentations.
Builds advocate relationships and partnerships with key opinion leaders, scientific experts and centers of academic excellence in the Pain community.
Participates in budgetary processes as part of business planning, periodically tracks and manages expenses within His/Her tactical plan.
Assists with development of SOPs for the activities conducted by Medical Affairs.
Interface with core functional global counterparts and teams, as needed.
Qualifications
Scientific Experience-- M.D., board c! ertification/training in Pain, with 3+ years of experience in Medical Affairs, preferred background in Pain. He/She must be a Pain Care Specialist/Anesthesiologist. Must be familiar and experienced in the clinical drug development and regulatory processes and have expertise in designing and conducting clinical trials. Must be familiar with health economics and outcomes research as it applies to achieving strategic business goals.
Leadership -- This individual must be able to inspire others, creating a dynamic environment that fosters transparency, collaboration and innovative strategic thinking. Must have proven track-record of success working across functions in a matrix environment with strong ability to influence and manage teams and stakeholders and an ability to foster teamwork across functions.
Project Management -- Must have strong project and process management orientation and be able to drive multiple projects through effective motivation and coll! aboration; must be able to think through complex systems, and be able t! o see the vision and align/simplify these systems to achieve this vision.
Business Savvy & Drive-- Must have quantifiable results in identifying business opportunities, developing a strategic plan, gaining buy-in and driving execution to capture those opportunities.
âGets it doneâ Attitude -- This individual must be a practical thinker, able to identify simple, realizable solutions; he/she must also be able to identify and alleviate any potential hurdles to achieving objectives.
International Focus-- Ability to interact on a regular basis with TEVA organizations in North America, Israel and Europe
